143rd Division (Imperial Japanese Army)

The 143rd Division (第143師団 Dai-hyakuyonjusan Shidan) was one of eighteen Coastal Defense Divisions raised by the Japanese to defend the coast of their homeland from an anticipated Allied invasion, on the 28th of February 1945. Each Division of the series between 140 and 160 had four infantry regiments. The 143rd Division had 409th-413th Infantry Regiments with attached machine cannon company, rocket artillery battalion, transport regiment, signal regiment, ordnance unit (arsenal) and 5 field hospitals - composition identical to 145th Division.
