11th Legislative District (New Jersey)
New Jersey's 11th Legislative District is one of 40 in the New Jersey Legislature, covering the Monmouth County municipalities of Allenhurst Borough, Asbury Park City, Colts Neck Township, Deal Borough, Eatontown Borough, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Interlaken Borough, Loch Arbour Village, Long Branch City, Neptune City Borough, Neptune Township, Ocean Township, Red Bank Borough, Shrewsbury Borough, Shrewsbury Township, Tinton Falls Borough and West Long Branch Borough as of the 2011 apportionment.[1]
As of the 2010 United States Census, the district had a population of 205,526, of whom 161,464 (78.6%) were of voting age. The racial makeup of the district was 156,075 (75.9%) White, 29,390 (14.3%) African American, 585 (0.3%) Native American, 5,631 (2.7%) Asian, 96 (0.0%) Pacific Islander, 8,526 (4.1%) from some other race, and 5,223 (2.5%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 24,738 (12.0%) of the population.[2] The district had 139,534 registered voters as of November 2013, of whom 72,608 (52.0%) were registered as Unaffiliated, 39,164 (28.1%) were registered as Democrats, 27,635 (19.8%) were registered as Republicans and 127 (0.1%) were registered to other parties.[3]
Political representation
For the 2014-2015 Legislative Session, the district is represented in the State Senate by Jennifer Beck (R, Red Bank) and in the General Assembly by Mary Pat Angelini (R, Ocean Township, Monmouth County) and Caroline Casagrande (R, Colts Neck Township).[4][5]
