.foo is a new top-level domain for Internet domain names, created as part of ICANN's New gTLD Program. The applicant is Google (Charleston Road Registry Inc.)[1] "Foo" is a metasyntactic variable in computer culture. It is an open domain, meaning there are no restrictions on what types of web sites and other users can register there.[2]
History
On 23 January 2014, Google received a registry agreement signed by ICANN for .foo after passing all the required processes needed to become a registry operator for the string.[3]
