Zweli Lawrence Mkhize (born 2 February 1956, Willowfontein, Pietermaritzburg) is a South African doctor, legislator and politician.[1] He was designated on 30 April 2009 as the African National Congress candidate for Premier of KwaZulu-Natal and was elected to that position by the provincial legislature on 6 May. He is also the newest chancellor of the University of KwaZulu-Natal.[2]
Mkhize resigned on August 22, 2013 and was succeeded by ANC Chairman Senzo Mchunu as Acting Premier of KwaZulu-Natal.[3]
