Born in Boka (Sečanj), Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Marić represented local FK Novi Sad and FK Vojvodina in his country. In January 1988, aged almost 29, he was allowed to leave the Iron Curtain nation and move to Spain, where he would remain until his retirement five years later, with Galician clubs Celta de Vigo[1] and SD Compostela; he competed in La Liga with the former, amassing totals of 71 games and 13 goals.
In the 2000s Marić became a manager, notably working with former sides Vojvodina[2] and Compostela.[3]
