Zhang Xizhe (Chinese: 张稀哲; pinyin: Zhāng Xīzhé; born 23 January 1991) is a Chinese footballer who currently plays for Beijing Guoan in the Chinese Super League.

Club career

Zhang Xizhe started his career football career in the 2009 league season playing for Beijing Guoan where he made his debut on 30 August 2009 in a league match against Shandong Luneng coming on a late substitute for Yang Hao in a 1-1 draw.[1] The following season in an attempt to gain more playing time Zhang was loaned to Beijing's satellite team Beijing Guoan Talent, which would play as a foreign team in the S.League in 2010.[2] He scored his first senior league goal on his first appearance in a 3-1 away win against Geylang United on 12 March 2010.[3] He would return to Beijing in July 2010 and go on to score his first for the club when he scored two goals in a Chinese Super League match against Henan Construction on 22 August 2010 in a 2-2 draw.[4] As he grew in experience, he also won the Chinese Football Association Young Player of the Year award in the 2012 season. However, the 2013 season was Zhang's breakout season in for Beijing in the Chinese Super League and scored eleven goals and assisted twelve goals in thirty games.

International career

Zhang Xizhe would be called up to the Chinese under-20 national team squad in 2009 and would take part in the 2010 AFC U-19 Championship qualifying campaign where he scored two goals from five appearances. At the 2010 AFC U-19 Championship, he would go on to play in every game and see China lose in the quarter-finals at the tournament.

On 29 March 2011, then manager Gao Hongbo decided to promote Zhang into the senior team for a friendly against Costa Rica in an experimental team that also saw Lang Zheng, Jin Jingdao, Lü Peng, Ma Chongchong and Ye Weichao make their first appearance in a game that ended in 2–2 draw.[5] He scored his first goal for China on 6 September 2013 in a 6–1 home victory against Singapore.[6]
