The Zastava M77 is a battle rifle developed and manufactured by Yugoslav Zastava Arms factory.[2][3] Although the USSR never hand any battle rifle in their arsenal, the M77B1 is actually a modified Zastava M70, itself a modified copy of the Soviet AKM, but with an enlarged barrel, Western type flash eliminator added and chambered in also Western, the 7.62x51mm caliber.

Overview

The M77 rifle chambers and fires the 7.62x51mm NATO round. It is gas-operated, air-cooled, magazine-fed, shoulder fired and selective fire firearm with a fixed wooden stock.

Variants

  • M77 - Standard version with a fixed wooden stock
  • M77B1 - Version with a fixed wooden stock being replaced with an AKMS style underfolding metallic one.
  • M90 - Assault rifle, the near identical version only chambered in 5.56x45mm caliber and with that, a different magazine design.
  • M90A - M90 with an underfolding metallic stock.
