Zanjira (Bengali: জাঁজিরা) is an Upazila of Shariatpur District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Geography

Zanjira is located at 23°21′00″N 90°20′00″E / 23.3500°N 90.3333°E / 23.3500; 90.3333 . It has 28716 units of house hold and total area 239.53 km².

Demographics

As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Zanjira has a population of 157316. Males constitute 51.13% of the population, and females 48.87%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 72458. Zanjira has an average literacy rate of 18.2% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.[1]

Zanjira has 12 Unions/Wards, 127 Mauzas/Mahallas, and 177 villages.
