Zachary T. Onyonka (1938–1996) was a Kenyan politician. Onyonka was the foreign minister of his country from 1987 to 1988 and several other ministries up to and including Education, Economic Planning & Development and Trade. Well Known within the Kisii community, he was always at loggerheads with then Nyaribari chache MP Simeon Nyachae until he died. He was famous for his quotes like "monto togwetiereria itimo" meaning you cannot help to sharpen the spear that will be used on you. He also was on record as saying while he was minister of education that the Kisii Community, was cheating on the Examinations, something he could not substantiate. He went to jail at one point in his ministerial life for the death of Ouru Ndege. He was succeeded by Jimmy Nuru Ondieki Angwenyi as MP for Kitutu Chache. His son Richard Momoima Onyonka is the current MP for Kitutu Chache Constituency

He was elected to the parliament at the 1969 elections from Kitutu West Constituency and retained a parliamentary seat until his death. Kitutu West Constituency was split before the 1988 elections, when he was elected to the parliament from newly created Kitutu Chache Constituency.[1]
