Yuria 100 Shiki (ユリア100式 Yuria Hyaku-shiki) is a Japanese manga series written by Shigemitsu Harada and illustrated by Nobuto Hagio. It has been serialized in Young Animal from 2006 to January 22, 2010.[1] The individual chapters are collected and released in tankōbon volumes by Hakusensha with the twelfth and final volume released on March 29, 2010.

In December 2006, the Kanagawa Prefecture labelled the book as harmful to minors per the prefectural youth protection laws.[2]

A drama CD was released in 2008. A live-action adaptation was announced starring Shelly Fujii which was released in 2009.[3]

Plot

Dr. Akiba, a perverted scientist, developed a series of sex robots, and Type 100 is his newest creation. She has highly advanced artificial intelligence, so advanced that she refuses to become Dr. Akiba's sex slave as he had designed and escapes from his lab. She meets college student Shunsuke Kubo and decides to stay at his apartment. However, as she is designed to be a sex robot, she interprets everything Shunsuke says in a sexual manner. Yuria on multiple occasions attempts to seduce Shunsuke into having sex with her, and to turn herself into Shunsuke's life long Dutch wife, but fails because Shunsuke already has a girlfriend, Maria.

Main characters

  • Yuria Type 100 (ユリア100式 Yuria 100 Shiki), simply called Yuria – Yuria is a humanoid Dutch wife (love doll). A female android designed with the sole purpose of being the sex slave of her master. But she has one flaw, she does not want to be a Dutch wife. After escaping from her creator, she meets Kubo Shunsuke, who gives her a place to stay. Hilarity is bound to ensue as she battles her programming, which draws her towards him, and pretty much any other man she comes across.
  • Shunsuke Kubo (久保瞬介 Kubo Shunsuke) - a hardworking young man with a hobby in pro-wrestling, Shunsuke takes in Yuria thinking she is a runaway, and does his best to treat her somewhat like a little sister despite her strange physical advances on him, which he retaliates with different grappling holds to keep her at bay.

Supporting characters

  • Yuria Type 105 (ユリア105式 Yuria 105 Shiki), called Juria/Julia – 2nd Dutch Wife made and escaped like Yuria. Now she lives as a life size doll for Yoshio.
  • Yuria Type 108 (ユリア108式 Yuria 108 Shiki), called Yurin – 3rd Dutch Wife created and escaped like Yuria and Juria. Yurin is a loli type Dutch wife who is currently staying with Ippei.
  • Dr. Ayumu Akiba (秋葉歩博士 Akiba Ayumu Hakase) – Creator of the Yuria series sex dolls
  • Maria Nakamura (中村まりあ Nakamura Maria) – Maria is the daughter of a wealthy family from Kubo Shunsuke's home town and his girlfriend.
  • Yoshio (良夫 Yoshio) – Yoshio is a 17 year old high school student who lets Juria stay with him.
  • Ippei Yamamoto (山本一平 Yamamoto Ippei) – A university student studying to be elementary teacher who somehow ends up "kidnapping" Yurin.
  • Lucy Mark II (ルーシーMarkII Lucy Mark II), simply called Lucy – American humanoid Dutch Wife and rival of the Yuria series. Unlike the Yuria series, Lucy is designed for the American and European market, and is specialized engage in "hardcore" sex.
  • Lucy Mark 3.5 (ルーシーMark3.5 Lucy Mark 3.5), called Louie/Louis – American humanoid Dutch Wife with the top half of a woman and the bottom half of a man. Was created this way due to budget cutbacks as a merge of the 3 and 4 series of Lucy.

Live Action Adaptation

A live action adaptation was released on November 20, 2009 in Japan.[4] Yuria is played by Shelly Fujii and the movie is directed by Hideo Jojo (Gachi-ban).
