Yu-jin, also spelled Yoo-jin or Eugene, is a Korean unisex given name. It is a common name in South Korea. Its commonality may be attributed to the fact that it may be given to both boys and girls, as well as the fact that parents in South Korea are increasingly opting for English-style names which have favourable meanings in hanja but at the same time can be pronounced easily by non-Koreans.[1] In the early 2000s, Yu-jin and Dong-hyun were two of the most popular names for baby boys, but later in the decade they both fell in popularity, and by 2008 Yu-jin had fallen out of the top ten.[2]
