Yoshiki Sakurai (櫻井圭記 Sakurai Yoshiki, born June 9,1977) is a Japanese screenwriter.

Career

Sakurai, born on 9th June, 1977 in London, UK, is a Japanese screenwriter. He returned to Tochigi prefecture Japan when he was 13, and eventually graduated University of Tokyo (majored in economics). His theses concerning Japanese animation and subculture, won several awards. While he was a college student, he participated in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex anime television series as a screenwriter, writing 8 episodes.[1] After graduation, he was employed at Production I.G. and participated in the second series, Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG and a TV movie, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society, as a screenwriter.[2]

He later participated in titles such as xxxHolic series, Otogi Zoshi, Appleseed XIII, Red Line and Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone.[citation needed]
