Yoshi's New Island is an upcoming platform game exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.[2] It is the sequel to the 1995 game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[1] and the 2006 game Yoshi's Island DS. It is set for a release on March 14, 2014 for North America and Europe.[3] The game has an art style similar to previous Yoshi games, featuring oil painting, watercolor, and crayon-like designs.[4] The gameplay focuses on Yoshi escorting babies, such as Baby Mario, and eating enemies to make eggs that act as projectiles.[1]
Development
The game was announced in a Nintendo Direct presentation in April 2013.[5] Its official name was revealed at E3 2013; a trailer of the game was also featured.[6]
