Ylakiai is a small town in Klaipėda County, in northwestern Lithuania. According to the 2001 census, the town has a population of 1,165 people.[1]
History
For the first time, Ylakiai was mentioned in 1568 in the inventory list of Grūstė parish made by Jokūbas Laskovskis. At that time Ylakiai village was in the dominions of Skuodas estate.
In 1894 there was built current catholic church.
In 2002 President of the Republic of Lithuania approved new coat of arms of Ylakiai.[2]
Central part of the town is an urban monument.
