The Yakima SunDome is a 6,195 seat multi-purpose arena in Yakima, Washington. It was built in 1990, on the Central Washington State Fairgrounds and often serves as an exhibit hall during the fair. Bea Noel of Yakima developed the first vision of building a multi purpose facility on the Yakima Fair Grounds. Gilbert H. Moen Co. was the General Contractor. Originally, the SunDome was to be called the "QueenDome," to be more of a sister dome to the Kingdome in Seattle, Washington.
The SunDome also hosts the WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington 1B, 1A, and 2A High School Basketball State Tournaments annually. The arena also hosts the WIAA Dance and Drill State championship.
The SunDome was the home of the Continental Basketball Association's Yakima Sun Kings from 1990 to 2008. The SunDome has occasionally hosted indoor football, including the Yakima Shockwave of the National Indoor Football League in 2001 and the Yakima Valley Warriors of the American Indoor Football Association played home games at the SunDome in 2010.
