Yaghuth

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yaghūth (Arabic "He Helps" يَغُوثَ) is an idol referred to in the Qur'an (71:23) as a god of the era of the Prophet Noah:

And they say: By no means leave your gods, nor leave Wadd, nor Suwa'; nor Yaghuth, and Ya'uq and Nasr. (Qur'an 71:23)

The name may be the source of H. P. Lovecraft's Yuggoth.[citation needed]
