Xiuyu (simplified Chinese: 秀屿区; traditional Chinese: 秀嶼區; pinyin: Xiùyǔ Qū) is a district in the municipal region of Putian, Fujian, People's Republic of China. The district executive, legislature and judiciary are in Hushi Town (笏石镇), together with the CPC and PSB branches.
Notable Islands
Xiuyu District administers many islands, including -
- Meizhou Island, the legendary birthplace of the goddess Matsu and a famous pilgrimage site
- Wuqiu Islands, still controlled by the Republic of China based on Taiwan, and provisionally attached by that Central Government for purposes of civil administration to Jinmen County, Quanzhou.
