XING (acronym for Crossing in New Genre) was a male group from South Korea that was active from 2006 to 2009. It made it into the list of the Top 5 Most Anticipated Artists In 2007. The members of Xing were changed many times before the group completely disbanded.

Career

Xing's first single 'In Your Hands' was released on December 14, 2006, its 4 original members Marumir (Kim Kibum), Kevin, Yume (Kim Youngkyung), and Cheon Hyesung (Choi Sungsoo). Xing's popularity quickly rose and they were dubbed as the teenage SG Wannabe. [citation needed]

On January 30, Xing held their first concert, which was a form of training for the group. Also participating in the concert were Poppin' Dragon (Yong Junhyung) and ZEN (Nam Jinhyun) as they were trainees. Other than the concert, there were no other performances. In the beginning of 2007, the group was featured in a magazine, which included photoshoots and an interview to promote the group. They also participated in a few more photoshoots beside the magazine and released clips and music videos online. On July 14, 2007, Kibum announced his departure from XING, the reason being that he left for a better future for himself. He bid rest of the XING members good luck and told fans not to be heartbroken. Shortly afterward, the two trainees member were added to the group (Junhyung and ZEN). Thus, Xing became a 5-member group for the release of their second single.

On August 5, 2007, Xing released their second single, 'My Girl', with the title song falling into the genre of pop. Although there were many fans that enjoyed the single, many thought that they strayed too far from the image and sound that the fans had initially fallen in love with. The single was promoted though a performance at the New Star event, which was a talent show organized by Xing Entertainment.

The group held its second concert on September 8, 2007. They performed songs from both their singles and each member delivered a solo performance. They performed officially on national television at the YTN Star Digital Night Concert.

At the end of 2007, Xing's member makeup had a dramatic change. On September 6, 2007, Sungsoo left the group but with no statement or announcement from him or Xing Entertainment. On January 12, 2008, Youngkyung decided to leave the group, making a diary announcement to fans. On January 13, 2008, Junhyung also decided to leave the group. Kevin and Jinhyun, along with four former members of the group "Singing in The Rain", Yoon (Kim Jisang), White (Lee Suhoon), Husky (Woo Hyunmin), and Gun (Shin Gwangchul), along with another - Kipalang (Jeon Jihwan)- formed the new makeup of the 7-member group Xing.

On March 17, 2008, the 7-member Xing group released a digital single "T Express." The music style of the group changed once again, turning from a pop genre to a dance genre with rap influence. After the release of this single, on April 2, Kevin, the only original member of Xing decided to depart from the group. The group then stood as 6-member group. Xing Entertainment has stated that “Xing was a project group that will have members rotating in and out, in hopes in keeping the group fresh.”

After Jinhyun left the group some time after, added to the group were Soul (Lee Injoon) and Rising (Park Hyunchul). Eventually all the members left or changed entertainment companies.

The last makeup of Xing consisted of Kim Wanchul, Kim Donggeun, Jin Hyunjin, Hwang Doohwan, and Kim Jinwan. A teaser was revealed, but no actual single was released. The group disbanded and Xing's infamous rotations finally came to an end.

Xing Today

On August 15, 2008, Kevin and Kibum of the original member lineup of Xing debuted in 7-member boy group called U-Kiss under NH Media Japan. On February 13, 2011, though, Kibum was removed from the group and has since partook in some promotions in Japan.

Former member Junhyung is currently the rapper of boy group BEAST, which debuted October 2009 under Cube Entertainment. Hyunchul, Injoon, Jihwan, Suhoon, and Hyunmin debuted March 2010 as 5 member boy group DGNA. Former members Zin and Sulhu are now rappers in the boy group X-5, which debuted in April 2011. Groups DGNA and X-5 are label-mates under Open World Entertainment. The other former members Wanchul and Doohwan joined the 21-member rotational boy band A-Peace as main vocals in May 2011.

Kim Youngkyung, Choi Sungsoo, Nam Jinhyun, Kim Jisang, Shin Gwangchul, and Kim Donggeun are inactive. Youngkyung, though, was a background dancer to 5tion's latest song 빠삐용 (Papillon) during promotions and Sungsoo appeared on The Voice of Korea, though did not proceed through the program. Jinhyun is part of the dance W.A Company and Gwangchul has partaken in being an ulzzang. Former members Jisang and Dongguen have not appeared to be active.
