World Gym was founded in 1976 by Joe Gold during the glory days of “Muscle Beach” in Venice, California. Since that time, World Gym has evolved into an internationally recognized brand.

World Gym currently has approximately 200 franchisees world wide, located in 36 states and in Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, Australia, Taiwan, South Korea, India, Egypt, and Russia. Plans include further global expansion of the franchise network and the opening of regional flagship gyms.

The first Joe Gold Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Ric Drasin at the 2012 World Gym International Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. [1]
