Wonder Party is the fifth mini album (counted as second) by South Korean girl group Wonder Girls. It was released digitally on June 3, 2012 and physically on June 6, 2012. The lead single "Like This" was released on June 3.

Background

The album was first confirmed by their company and was scheduled to be released in early June. It was also announced that they will be stepping away from the retro-style genre and will focus on more powerful dance tracks for the summer season. J.Y. Park recently wrote via his Twitter page, “Wonder Girls’ US album now complete, and all the songs on their Korean album have unanimously been approved.” [1][2]

Composition

"Our starting point was the was the question, "How come guys don't like good girls?" And then we asked, "How come people eat fast food even when they know it's bad for them? There's got to be food that's good to the palate that's good to your body. In the same line of thought, there's got be girls who are good but not boring.""

– Yeeun talking about the lyrics of R.E.A.L. [3]

Members Yeeun and Yubin participated in composing and producing several tracks. Yeeun worked with songwriter Woo Min Lee to finish "R.E.A.L" and "Girlfriend".

The lyrics of "R.E.A.L", describe a girl's love for a guy who doesn't appreciate it. "Girlfriend" tells of a story of a woman who is drinking calling her ex-boyfriend with him answering saying "he's with his girlfriend right now", leaving the woman heartbroken that he has moved on.

"Hey Boy" was written by Yubin. The song is her first composition aside from writing her own rapping parts. It describes how a girl is falling in love and how she realizes that first impressions don't necessarily mean everything.
