Wonder Mountain's Guardian is a 4D interactive dark ride currently under construction at the Canada's Wonderland amusement park located in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. The ride, set to open in May 2014, will be created by Triotech Amusement, a Montreal-based company who have created dark rides for amusement parks across the world. Wonder Mountain's Guardian will be an interactive dark ride meaning each rider will have a gun to shoot at targets and earn points. Projected 3D imagery will be accompanied by other special effects such as wind on the 1,093-foot-long (333 m) ride.[1][2][3] The ride will be the second interactive dark ride at the park, following the installation of Sally Corporation's Scooby-Doo's Haunted Mansion (renamed Boo Blasters on Boo Hill since Cedar Fair's purchase of the park) in 2000.[4][5]
History
Speculation that Canada's Wonderland would be building a new attraction for the 2014 season began at the end of July 2013 when maintenance work was discovered on the west side Wonder Mountain.[6] The park officially announced Wonder Mountain's Guardian on August 30, 2013 on Breakfast Television Toronto, a morning news show for the area.[7]
Ride experience
After the train is dispatched from the station, it will climb a 60-foot (18 m) lift hill on the outside of the mountain. Once at the top, the train will drop inside the mountain entering the first of five interactive "layers" (including a forest, an underground lake, and a dragon lair; the other two "layers" are not known) in which riders will use their individual laser guns to shoot objects on a screen. Once the train has passed through all five scenes, the train will enter a finale which the park has not yet released details about.[1][2][3]
Throughout the ride, riders will be able to score points by hitting certain objects on the screen with their laser guns. At the end, each rider will be shown their score and the highest score out of the eight riders wins.[8] The ride will feature the longest interactive screen in the world, allowing the park to change projections to zombies during Halloween Haunt.[9]
