History

The school was also awarded specialist status and received a grant for developments in the area of "Performing Arts". A new music block was built, with hi-tech equipment such as a recording studio, a dance studio, over 300 computers and practice rooms.

Its library (Independent Learning Centre - ILC) has been converted into a room for homework help and computer access.

The RE rooms as they were from 1972-94 are now a gymnasium, containing keep-fit equipment.

Incidents

In 2011 the head of music, Craig Parkin, was found guilty of having a sexual affair with a pupil at the college. Parkin instigated a close relationship with one of his pupils after she turned 14. They began having sex at 15. Parkin was later sentenced to four years imprisonment, has been banned from working with children and will be on the national sex offenders register for life.[3]
