Wisconsin Point near Superior, WI

Wisconsin Point is a peninsula off the shore of Superior, Wisconsin, in Douglas County, Wisconsin.[1] It is 3 miles in length. The Wisconsin Point Lighthouse was built in 1913 and is located on the end of the peninsula. It is owned and maintained by the city of Superior.[2][3] Other notable features of Wisconsin Point include a Native American burial ground, extensive beaches and vistas of the city of Duluth, Minnesota, and a diverse forest and lagoon ecosystem. It is well known as a hotspot for birding during the Spring and Fall migrations, where ducks, shorebirds, gulls, hawks, and numerous songbirds such as warblers, finches, and sparrows can be seen.[4]

It is a popular area for college students from the University of Wisconsin Superior and Duluth for recreational fires.[citation needed]
