The Winter Dew Tour is a sports event, controlled and arranged by the U.S. sports broadcaster NBC Sports and Alli Sports which focuses on Winter extreme sports. The Winter Dew Tour is an action sports tour made up of multiple events held in five U.S. cities over the course of several months. The first Winter Dew Tour was held in the Winter of 2008 with events in snowboarding and Freestyle skiing. Participants compete to win bronze, silver and gold medals, and prize money.
History
In May 2013, the United States Ski and Snowboard Association reached an agreement with Alli to allow a Winter Dew Tour event in Breckenridge, Colorado to serve as a qualifying event for the 2014 Winter Olympics team. The arrangement gives the USSA control over certain aspects of the event (such as its format, and selling advertising to its own official sponsors during the telecast), and will also be used to help promote its own Grand Prix series.[1]
