Winsome Witch

Winsome Witch is a television series produced by Hanna Barbera Studios. It aired alongside Secret Squirrel and Squiddly Diddly on The Atom Ant/Secret Squirrel Show.

Plot

Winsome W. Witch (voiced by Jean Vander Pyl whose character is also called "Winnie") is a friendly, yet somewhat inept, witch. Winnie's catch phrase when casting a spell was "Ippity - Pippity - Pow!" (when the magic spell conjures, the Jet Screamer entrance cue from The Jetsons, is heard). She often flies around on a broom that happens to be magically alive.

11 Winnie the Sheriff Winnie arrives in an all male western town, where all the men like her. But when the outlaw cowboys come, she's elected sheriff where she uses her power to thwart the robber. After that, while she appreciates the cowboys liking her, she cannot withstand so much attention. To remedy this, Winnie conjures up a stagecoach full of ladies to come live in the town and marry the men.

13 Shoo Spy The Pentagon calls in Winnie Witch to deal with enemy spy Dr. Zero. Surprisingly, her magic fails to thwart him, so she tries a different approach. When Dr. Zero said he turned to espionage because no woman wanted to date him, she tries to improve his appearance to gain the attention of the ladies, and thus he quits his spying.
14 Hollywood or Busted Winnie wins a trip to Hollywood after coming up with the winning slogan for a bar soap company. At Hollywood, she gets to be in a horror movie with Roger Glamoore (who's disguised as a monster). After shooting, a Hollywood tour bus passes by and Winnie notices the stewardess from the plane ride. She sets her up a date with Roger (out of costume) while Winnie ends up getting a date with Frankenstein.
15 Wolfcraft Vs. Witchcraft After being recurringly being stopped by Winsome Witch who is protecting the Three Little Pigs, the Big Bad Wolf tries to fight magic with magic.
16 Tallyho the Hunter Winnie Witch transforms into different animals in order to stop a hunter.

19 Witch Witch is Witch Winnie baby sits twin brothers. When she falls asleep, the boys play with her wand turning the house into a castle and them as monkeys. When they forget the magic words and with their parents coming back soon, Winnie's broom wakes her up.

Season two

20 Good Little Scout Tom Thumb wants to be a Boy Scout, but is very small to join. Winnie helps gain confidence for the little fellow.

22 Pussycat Man In order to stop the two-headed villain called Thinker who is committing a crime wave in Metropolis City, Winnie helps out her favorite superhero Pussycat Man after he's sidelined.
23 Sheriff Winnie In a thunderstorm, Winnie & her broom arrive in a western town. The Mayor appoints her sheriff, in which she has to capture a bad guy. After the bad guy fails (with Winnie using her magic to discourage him), the bad guy goes straight & wants to court Winnie Witch!
24 Wee Winnie Witch Winnie's visiting niece bewitches anything she pleases and her aunt does her best to keep her and her magic in line.
25 Sea-Dogged
26 Wild Wild Witch In a parody of The Wizard of Oz, a tornado transports Winnie to a magical land where she ends up having to seek out the Wild Wizard.

DVD release

The episode "Prince Of A Pup" is available on the DVD Saturday Morning Cartoons 1960's Vol. 1.

Other appearances

Winsome Witch appeared in the Fender Bender 500 segment of Wake, Rattle, and Roll. She is shown to have a cat named Lucky (voiced by Don Messick) as her driving partner where she drives a cauldron-modeled monster truck called the Sonic Broom which also has on it a talking skeleton named Axel (voiced by Neil Ross).

Film

In September 2013, it was reported that Warner Bros. will produce a live-action/animated film, similar to Fox and Bagdasarian's Alvin & the Chipmunks. George and Bill Miller, director of Happy Feet, will make any first future live-action films based on Hanna-Barbera cartoons.
