Windhoek West (constituency)

Windhoek West is an electoral constituency in the Khomas Region of Namibia. It contains the affluent suburbs of Hochland Park, Pioneers Park, Academia, Cimbebasia, Rocky Crest, Windhoek North and Windhoek West.[1]

Windhoek West has 42,201 inhabitants (2010). Its residents have a high life expectancy, and a high rate of school attendance, and access to electricity and safe water.[2]

The first councillor of this constituency was Henk Mudge (DTA). In 1998 Sophia Shaningwa (SWAPO) won the seat and served for two six-year terms. Since 2010, Shikwetepo Haindongo (SWAPO) is councillor of Windhoek West.[3]
