From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

William L. Parment (born 1942) was born in Jamestown, New York, and raised in Ellington. He is a "sixth generation Chautauqua County native."

Within the New York State Assembly, he represented District 150, which includes most of Chautauqua County (all except the towns that border Cattaraugus County on Chautauqua's east side, which are in Joseph Giglio's district), including the cities of Jamestown and Dunkirk.

Initially elected to the Assembly in 1982, he currently serves as the Co-Chairman of the Legislative Taskforce on Demographic Research and Reapportionment. Prior to his work in the Assembly, he ran unsuccessfully in 1974 for New York's 39th congressional district seat, losing to incumbent James F. Hastings.

Prior to his service in the Assembly Parment worked as a civil technician within the construction industry as well as a facilities planner for the State University of New York.

He holds an AAS from State University Agricultural and Technical College and a BS from SUNY New Paltz.

Parment announced his retirement at the end of 2010. Republican Andrew Goodell, a former county executive of Chautauqua County, was elected as his replacement effective January 2011. Since his retirement, he has resided in Ithaca, New York.
