William Henry Cutten (1822–1883) was a New Zealand politician from the Otago Region.
Cutten served in the 1st New Zealand Parliament as representative for the Dunedin Country electorate 1853–1855, but resigned before the end of his term. He later served in the 6th Parliament as a representative for Taieri from a 1878 by-election until the end of the parliamentary term in 1879, when he retired.[1] In the 1881 election, he contested the Peninsula and of the four candidates, when he came a close second against James Seaton.[2]
He served on the Otago Provincial Council at various times between 1853 and 1873, representing the Town of Dunedin electorate.[3] He was on the Council's Executive for four periods between 1854 and 1872.[4]
Cutten was a son-in-law of William Cargill, perhaps the most prominent of Otago's early settlers. Along with Julius Vogel, he founded the Otago Daily Times.
