Wilhelm August Thams

Wilhelm August Thams (1812–1884) was a Norwegian merchant and mill owner. He was the son of bailiff Jacob Thullin Thams. He was married to Ida Olava Mandskow, and was the father of Marentius Thams and grandfather of Christian Thams. He established the company Strandheim Brug at Ørkedalsøren, a sawmill and timber trade company, which his son Marentius eventually developed to become the largest such company in Norway. He established the Ørkedals Mining Company in 1868, in cooperation with ship owner Christian Salvesen.[1][2][3]
