European Bahamians or Bahamians of European Descent are Bahamians whose ancestry lie within the continent of Europe. Most are the descendants of the British Puritans and American Loyalists who arrived in 1649 and 1783 respectively. A small portion of the European Bahamian population are the descendants of Greek laborers who came to help develop the sponging industry in the 1900s. They are an inclusive society who generally "keep to themselves" due to their very distinct differences from the majority of the Bahamian population (in language and culture)
