Whit Hertford (born November 2, 1978) is an American actor, writer, director and musician.
Career
His career began at an early age most notably with his appearance in Jurassic Park, as well as Jacob in A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child and his recurring role on the sitcom Full House as Walter "Duckface" Berman.
Currently he can be seen as "Officer / Detective Ross" on the FOX comedy, Raising Hope. During the first season of the Emmy-award winning series Glee (TV series) he played the tyrannical rival choreographer "Dakota Stanley". Other recent TV credits include Psych (TV series), How I Met Your Mother, Glory Daze (TV series), various appearances on Conan and as the voice of Cadet Kryze on Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 TV series).
A longtime member of the famed Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, Hertford is a current performer and writer at their Los Angeles theatre. He co-hosted the variety show extravaganza,"That's Incrediblé!" with Nathan Barnatt.
As a filmmaker, Hertford co-founded (along with director Ryan Darst) the American New Wave film entity known as Sneak Attack and has written / produced / starred in all of their works: Long Story Short, co-starring Nora Kirkpatrick (of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Farm and ABC family's Greek) and Matt Jones (Breaking Bad); Elliott, Tomorrow (co-starring Stephanie Allynne) and their debut feature, the coming of age romance Dreamworld. The films have screened at various festivals in the US, including: Ashland Independent Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, LA Indie Film Festival, Florida Film Festival, Napa Valley Film Festival, DC Shortsfest, White Sands, Santa Clarita and Port Townsend. Their most recent short films are the hypnotic-fantasy, Midway starring comedian Brian Huskey and the heist adventure, The Caper Kind, which co-stars Jon Heder, Kirkpatrick and Johnny Pemberton. Whit also co-wrote, co-starred and served as associate producer of the award winning short film, Peter at The End starring Heder and directed by Russ Lamoureux - (Best Long Form - Rushes Soho Film Festival - London, England; Austin Film Festival Official Selection). He is the co-creator (also alongside Kirkpatrick) of the Funny or Die original webseries, Happy Place as well as, Jackie Chiles: For the People which featured the beloved Seinfeld character.
He received a BFA from the University of Utah's Actor Training Program conservatory in 2004 with Irene Nominations for From Morn to Midnight, The Duchess of Malfi and You Can't Take It with You. Post graduation he directed the Utah premiere of Eric Coble's Bright Ideas and formed Shortcut Theatre Co. (director, Fool for Love; producer / actor, True West. He was also a company member of Salt Lake Shakespeare for five seasons.
As a musician he has collaborated with the new wave outfit The Mannequin (alongside Tyler Blake & Michael David of Classixx); the folk rock trio Willful Creatures (with Nora Kirkpatrick of Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes and actor Matt Jones) and the dream pop project Natural History.
Currently, he's part of the passion synth duo LUVRS with Cat Leavy. Their debut EP is being produced by film composer Eric Robertson of Oceanear. Robertson and Hertford also spend time alongside Shawn Day in the nü-dance electronic muziq entity, Sojourn.
