What's On Kyiv or 'What's On Kiev' is an English-language magazine published weekly in Ukraine's capital Kiev.[1] It is dedicated to covering the culture and entertainment in the city.[2]

Style

The magazine is essentially an entertainment and listings magazine, with references also to current events[citation needed]. What's On has a reputation as a reliable publication and is unafraid of poking fun at public figures or politicians. Celebrities to have been interviewed by What's On include Chris Rea,[3] Svetlana Loboda [4] and Stereolizza.[5]

History

The magazine was founded in 1999, the first Editor In Chief was Amanda Pitt. Peter Dickinson, edited What's On between 2001 and 2007. The editor after Dickinson was Neil Campbell, who is currently the publisher. Campbell handed over editorial duties in 2011 to Lana Nicole. What's On is owned by PAN Publishing, who also publish Panorama, the in-flight magazine of Ukraine International Airlines.

Readership

What's On is read widely in the expatriate (business and diplomatic) community. For this reason it is distributed free of charge directly to embassies and businesses. The magazine is also read by large numbers of English speaking Ukrainians who pick up the magazine at other distribution points such as bars, restaurants, business centres and other places around the city.
