Westmead Railway Station

Westmead is a railway station on the North Shore, Northern & Western Line and Cumberland Line of the Sydney Trains network. It serves a well established residential area, nearby major hospitals (Westmead Hospital and the Children's Hospital at Westmead) and local educational institutions including the University of Western Sydney and Westmead Teaching Hospital. It has four tracks and two island platforms. Each island platform serves trains of the same direction. Immediately east of Westmead, the 'Up Main' track passes under the 'Up and Down West Suburban' tracks, so that east of Westmead, tracks are arranged 'Up/Down/Up/Down' and west of Westmead they are arranged 'Up/Up/Down/Down'. Also east of Westmead, points allow trains to cross between 'Main' (fast) and 'Suburban' (slow) tracks.

Between 1922 and 1932, the Rogans Hill railway line branched from the Main West line immediately to the west of Westmead station.[1]

Westmead is the 37th most patronised railway station in Sydney (out of a total of 176 stations), with an average of 6640 passengers boarding per day.
