Weekday

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A weekday is any day of the week except Sunday and often also Saturday.[1][2][3]

"Weekday" usually means the same as workday, however in some countries with a five-day workweek, the term weekday may still retain the old meaning "all days except Sunday", from when most people worked on Saturdays. [citation needed]

Weekday is sometimes confused with calendar day, which is any of the days of the week.

In most countries, the days of the workweek are:

  1. Monday
  2. Tuesday
  3. Wednesday
  4. Thursday
  5. Friday

Many timetables are different on weekdays, such as radio and television schedules, parking restrictions, and shop opening hours.
