Wayzata High School is located in Plymouth, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis-St. Paul. The high school, operated by the Wayzata School District, has approximately 3400 students in grades 9 to 12 (2012), making it the largest secondary school by enrollment in Minnesota. It is also the largest Minnesota secondary school by structural size, with an interior of 487,000 square feet (45,200 m2).[2] The school is part of the Lake Conference, an athletic conference that also includes Minnetonka High School, Eden Prairie High School, Edina High School, and Hopkins High School. Its current principal is Mike Trewick.
In 2012, Newsweek ranked the school #355 on the "List of the 1000 Top High Schools in America."[3]
Academics
As of the 2012-2013 school year, Wayzata High School offers 26 Advanced Placement classes and 1 Advanced Placement Pilot course (AP Accounting).[4]
Athletics
Wayzata is part of the Lake Conference and in the Minnesota State High School League. Wayzata was in the Classic Lake Conference prior to the 2010-2011 athletic year.
The Wayzata boy's Cross Country team, girls synchronized swim team and girls soccer teams have each earned seven state titles. The most recent cross country title was in 2013, when both the boys and girls teams took state.[5][6]
The Wayzata girls's Cross Country team won the Nike NXN National Cross Country Championship in 2013.[7]
