"Watch Over You" is a song by the American rock band Alter Bridge, featured on the band's second album Blackbird in 2007. The ballad is one of Alter Bridge's softer songs and has a much lighter tone than other songs on the album. On January 2, 2008, the song was announced to be the third single off the album after "Ties That Bind." Although "Watch Over You" was the third single, "Ties That Bind" was only released in the United Kingdom; therefore, "Watch Over You" was Alter Bridge's second worldwide single released from Blackbird. The song debuted at #30 on the Mainstream Rock Chart. In addition, it also appeared in multiple episodes of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, as the song's music video was used as promotion for the second season of the series. It is one of the band's most popular songs.

Vocalist Myles Kennedy, who wrote the lyrics, has said that the song deals with addiction and the frustration of being unable to help someone who refuses to help himself or herself. When performed live, "Watch Over You" is usually played solely by Myles Kennedy on an acoustic guitar.

Music video

A music video was filmed for "Watch Over You", which began airing in Australia and New Zealand in mid-September 2008. In late September/early October, another version of the video was released and aired on VH1 using clips from and used as promotion for the second season of the reality television series Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.

The Celebrity Rehab version of the video also debuted at #10 on the VH1 Top 20 Countdown, and has since reached as high as the #3 spot, making it one of the most popular Alter Bridge songs to date.[citation needed]

The video was filmed in the same location as Shinedown's "Devour" and Slipknot's "Before I Forget."
