Waste Connections Inc. is an integrated solid waste services company that provides solid waste collection, transfer, disposal and recycling services in mostly secondary markets in the Western and Southern U.S. The Company serves more than two million residential, commercial and industrial customers across 30 states. Waste Connections also provides intermodal services for the movement of solid waste and cargo containers in the Pacific Northwest.

History

The company was founded in 1997, by a dedicated group of professionals in Washington and Idaho with industry related experience. Waste Connections, Inc. expanded very quickly, in just one year after its opening the company decided to go public with its first IPO in November 1998. The company then slowly expanded into California and the western United States and now has operations in 30 of the 50 U.S states. In December 2011, the company announced that it would be moving its headquarters from Folsom, CA to The Woodlands, Texas, a suburb of Houston. Chief Executive Officer, Ron Mittelstaedt, cited California's high taxes and dysfunctional legislature as key reasons for the move.[1]
