Wascana Creek

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wascana Creek originates in the fields east of Regina, Saskatchewan near Vibank, Saskatchewan and travels southeast for approximately 45 kilometers before turning back west at Tyvan, Saskatchewan. The creek then travels in a northwestwardly direction through Regina. The Creek was dammed by Canadian Pacific Railway which created Wascana Lake, to supply water for steam locomotives and to create a decorative image in Regina. The creek leaves Regina and ends at the Qu'Appelle River in Lumsden, Saskatchewan. The Creek and its tributaries drain over 2,200 square kilometers and land.

Sherwood Forest Bridge is one of the bridges that crosses Wascana Creek.

Fish species

The creek contains no sustainable fish populations. During flooding carp sometimes move into the creek.
