Wang Shenchao (Chinese: 王燊超; Pinyin: Wáng Shēnchāo; born 8 February 1989) is a Chinese footballer who currently plays for Shanghai East Asia in the Chinese Super League.

Club career

Wang Shenchao joined Genbao Football Academy in 2000 and was promoted to the Shanghai East Asia first team for the 2006 season. He made an impression within the team as Shanghai East Asia won promotion to the second tier in the 2007 season. He became the team captain after Wang Jiayu transferred to Chinese Super League club Nanchang Hengyuan in January 2011. Wang was linked with a move to Shanghai Shenxin at the end of 2011 season but decided to stay at the club.[1] Wang played as a regular starter as a centre-back for the club but later changed to a fullback position during the 2012 season.[2] He appeared in twenty-nine league matches and scored three goals in the 2012 season as Shanghai East Asia clinched the second tier league title and was promoted to the top flight.
