Walter Pössl (16 September 1909 – 25 September 1944) was a highly decorated Oberstleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Walter Pössl was killed in action near Warsaw, Poland on 25 September 1944, and was posthumously promoted to Oberstleutnant.
