Walter Charles Mycroft (1890 – 14 June 1959) was a British novelist, screenwriter, film producer and director.[1] Mycroft was in charge of production for one of the British Major film studios British International Pictures during the 1930s. The company released large numbers of film in which he was credited with producer with varying levels of actual involvement.
Mycroft was in charge of Elstree Studios, and his adopted son, David Rees Mycroft worked as assistant director on a number of Elstree productions. Walter Mycroft was formerly film critic for the London Evening Standard, and was reportedly the co-author of the script for the early Hitchcock film Champagne (1928).
David Mycroft, who isn't mentioned in his biography, edited by Vincent Porter, was an experimental filmmaker, poet and psychologist who studied with R.D. Laing. David Mycroft's daughter Ruth Novaczek is a British experimental film maker. [2]
