Athletics

The Walnut High football team contends in Division 7 of CIF[3] .

The aquatics program offered is one of the best in the area with the water polo team winning a CIF championship and both the water polo and swim teams winning league titles.[4]

The soccer program has been strong since its inception and is a strong contributor to the schools athletic program. They have won two CIFSS 1-A Championships (1990, 1992), including an undefeated season in 1992 (25-0-1) under head Coach Doug Doner.[4]

Walnut's girls golf team is also a strong contributor to the athletic program. They are the strongest among their league, having won league titles in 2013 and 2014. Their girls golf team also made history in the state of California in 2014, being the youngest team (3 years of existence) to reach CIF-SS state and to place second. The golf teams, both girls and boys, is currently coached by Cecil Woods, formerly a professional baseball player.
