Walid Cherfa (Arabic: وليد شرفة; born 19 February 1986 in Toulouse, France) is an Algerian footballer who plays as a left defender.
Football career
A Toulouse FC youth graduate, Cherfa appeared sparingly for the first team during the 2006–07 season in Ligue 1, subsequently serving a stint with third division team Tours FC.
In August 2008, he moved to Spain, joining Gimnàstic de Tarragona in the second division. On 23 June 2010, after two seasons being sparingly used, he signed a 1+1 deal with another club in the country and category, Girona FC.[1]
In January 2011, without having appeared officially for Girona, Cherfa rescinded his contract with the Catalans and joined Albacete Balompié, also in the Spanish second level. On 16 August, he signed a two-year contract with Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 side MC Alger.[2]
On 1 January 2012, Cherfa was released by the club.[3]
On 9 August 2012, Kalloni in the Greek Football League announced the capture of Cherfa, as a free transfer. He signed an 1 year contract, until the 30th of June, 2013.
Personal
His older brother, Sofyane, is also a defender. He played mostly for French football teams. Currently he plays for the Greek football team Panthrakikos F.C. on loan from the Cypriot football team AC Omonia.
