The Wakestock Action Sports and Music Festival is a wakeboarding contest and Canada’s largest action sports and music festival[citation needed]. It is held in Ontario, Canada on the Toronto Islands, Toronto, Ontario. The name Wakestock refers to the famous outdoor music festival Woodstock.

History

Wakestock was born out of Bala, Ontario.

In 2005, the festival was moved to Toronto Islands from August 11-14. Each year the wakeboard competition is accompanied by a music festival. There are several stages with different bands playing throughout day.

There are also other attractions—in 2005 there was a skatepark set up for anyone with a skateboard. There was a Pro Freestyle Moto X demonstration as well as a rail competition set up for wakeboarders. There are also separate designated alcohol serving areas because the entire festival is for all ages.

Move to Collingwood

On August 9, 2009, Wakestock moved to Collingwood. The move proved to be a big hit in all respects. The pro riders and fans alike loved the new venue as well as the wide variety of party options available every night

2007: Wakestock 10

The Toronto wakeboarding festival celebrated ten years in 2007 with a 400-square-foot (37 m2) Oakley Pool (designed py Pat Panakos), as well as a music festival featuring the Deftones, Goldfinger, De La Soul, Story of the Year, and Lupe Fiasco on the Telus main stage.

2010: Wakestock 13

Collingwood, ON, Canada – The world’s largest annual wakeboarding festival is proud to announce its return to Collingwood, Canada, August 6-8, 2010. Bands announced for this year's Wakestock include Public Enemy, Alexisonfire, and USS (Featuring Maestro Fresh Wes), with more Bands to be announced.

One of the most progressive and richest events in pro wakeboarding and wakeskating for 12 years running, Wakestock is globally renowned as an innovative rider’s event that showcases the best in wakeboarding, wakeskating and the action sports lifestyle including incredible live band line-ups and legendary parties.


Wakestock was the first pro wakeboarding tour event to include rails, wakeskating and winch pools and consistently attracts the biggest spectator crowds in the world. Past Wakestock champions include legends like Darrin Shapiro, Parks Bonifay, Brett Eisenhauer, Jeff Heer and current superstars like Chad Sharpe, Shane Bonifay, Daniel Watkins, Keith Lidberg, Brian Grubb, Reed Hansen, George Daniels, Stuart Shinn, Rusty Malinoski, Phil Soven and Aaron Rathy.
