Waconda Lake is a reservoir near Glen Elder, Kansas in northwestern Mitchell County and extending westward into northeastern Osborne County. It is fed by the Solomon River, of which both forks form the lake. Cawker City is located on the north shore of the lake, as is Glen Elder State Park.
The lake was formed by Glen Elder Dam, a project of the United States Bureau of Reclamation built from 1963 to 1969.[1]
Waconda Spring was flooded by the lake's creation. The lake contains many top fishing spots, such as The Bluffs, The Dam, Granite Creek and the River.[citation needed]
