WRSV is a Mainstream Urban formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Elm City, North Carolina. WRSV broadcasts under the branding "Soul92 Jams" and carries the nationally syndicated Rickey Smiley morning show.

History

The Wynne family started WEED radio in 1933, later adding an FM station. In 1975 WEED-FM became WRSV-FM, one of the first stations in North Carolina geared toward African-Americans. Bill Wynne took over the stations from his father, selling to Northstar Broadcasting and retiring in 1989. Wynne would not let songs containing sirens air on his stations, since that would distract drivers.[1]
