WRSA-FM (96.9 FM, "Lite 96.9") is an adult contemporary music-formatted radio station serving the Huntsville, Alabama, area.^[2]

The broadcast transmitter and tower for WRSA-FM is located on Brindlee Mountain.^[3]

Personalities

Notable local on-air personalities on WRSA-FM include Bonny O'Brien and John Malone on mornings.^[4] O'Brien is a 20+ year veteran of the Huntsville radio market. Malone also serves as vice president of programming for the station's ownership group.

Other notable local personalities include morning traffic reporter Nate Adams, mid-day host Abby Kay, gameshow host Allen "In the Afternoon" Moore, and weekend host J.J. McCall. Weekday evening and some weekend programming is hosted by John Tesh on the syndicated The John Tesh Radio Show.^[5]

History

Before a gradual format change in the late 1990s away from its longtime "Beautiful 97" image, WRSA-FM was one of the last remaining easy listening-formatted radio stations in the United States. Constructed in 1964 and early 1965, WRSA went on the air in late November 1965,^[6] and was the most-listened-to FM in northern Alabama until the emergence of Athens' WZYP in the late 1970s.
