WRMD-CD, virtual and UHF digital channel 49, is a low-powered Telemundo-affiliated television station located in Tampa, Florida, United States. The station is owned by ZGS Communications. WRMD maintains studio facilities located on West Spruce Street in Tampa, and its transmitter located atop the Park Tower in downtown Tampa.

On cable, the station is available on Bright House Networks channel 13 in Hillsborough County (Fox owned-and-operated station WTVT, which broadcasts on virtual channel 13 over-the-air, is instead carried on channel 14 due to signal ingress issues) and channel 95 in Pinellas County; WOW! channel 99 in Pinellas County; Verizon FIOS channel 18 and locally on DirecTV.[citation needed]

History

The station first signed on the air in the early-1990s, originally broadcasting on UHF channel 57 as an affiliate of Channel America. Shortly afterward, the station was acquired by ZGS Communications, which converted the station into the Tampa Bay market's new Telemundo affiliate. WMRD originally broadcast on UHF channel 57 until the early 2000s, when the station relocated to UHF channel 49, to make room for WTTA (channel 38)'s new digital signal on channel 57. In 2004, the station began to be carried on Bright House Networks's cable systems in portions of the Tampa Bay market outside of Tampa proper.
