WLXV (96.7 FM, "Mix 96") is a radio station licensed to Cadillac, Michigan broadcasting an Adult Top 40 leaning-hot adult contemporary format.
The station, which began broadcasting on July 7, 1974, has previously programmed easy listening and adult contemporary music as WITW, beautiful music as WEZV, and CHR as WWLZ ("Lakes FM"). WWLZ was changed in 1994 to a simulcast of WLXT 96.3 FM in Petoskey, which continued until MacDonald-Garber Broadcasting, believing the Cadillac area needed its own music station (as opposed to simulcasts of stations from Traverse City or elsewhere), began the current "Mix" format.
A portion of the Mix 96 programming is derived from Dial Global's Hot AC satellite format. Weekend programming includes the Hot AC version American Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest Sundays; The Hollywood5 with Kidd Kraddick, Nina Blackwood's Absolutely 80's and Kid Kelly's Back Trax USA ('90s version) on Saturdays; and The Beacon with Austin Harris on Sunday mornings. Mix 96 also features an hour-long show dedicated to music by local artists, Thursday nights at 10 p.m.
