WKRO is an AM radio station located in Cairo, Illinois. The 1 kilowatt station broadcasts at 1490 AM. WKRO initially signed on in February, 1942 with a power of 250 watts. According to Broadcasting Yearbook, the station raised its daytime power to 1000 watts around 1975. The original owner of the facility was Oscar Hirsch.
